ABOUT THE PROJECT
Out of every 100,000 children in Tajikistan, approximately 160 children lose parental care each year In many cases, this is due to migration. As parents migrate, children often stay with relatives and in many cases grandparents who may have to struggle to meet the needs of growing children. many of which are placed in boarding schools.
Children left behind and affected by migration face multiple challenges in accessing basic services such as health care and education. The project "Protection of children affected by migration in South-East, South and Central Asia" is a joint initiative of the EU and UNICEF aimed at supporting children and families affected by migration in 16 districts of Tajikistan.
